I'VE BEEN GOING TO "L." FOR YEARS. MY WIFE AND I LOVE THE PLACE SO MUCH !! THE MIDDLE EASTERN PLATE IS MY FAVORATE, SHE LIKE SOME THING THAT I CAN'T REMEMBER RIGHT NOW. WITH OUR KID IN SCHOOL , WE CAN HAVE LUNCH THERE AGAIN. SO HAPPY FOR THAT.
I called Laureen's to possibly cater my wedding in August. I read one of the reviews here and was surprised. Yes, they were busy. Yes, the staff is young at lunchtime so I assume they are victims of their age... however when I was there I was Directed to a woman in regards to Catering and not only were they friendly to me, I felt like I was a part of their family - maybe because I too work in the restaurant industry I understand...
But the food has always been wonderful everytime I stop in. I'll try to remember to write back after the wedding if we go in their direction....
Laureen's lunch fare is delicious, but the place is a bit like Grand Central Station. At night, the restaurant metamorphoses into a romantic, gourmet, select establishment, with an excellent wine list and a small number of exquisitely prepared first courses, soups and entrees that change every few weeks. The staff is professional and non-intrusive; conversation can happen because tables are far apart and music and lighting are low volume.
